If you are a local student interested in completing Honours at UWS, the steps below will assist you.

1. Select a course - Check out the courses available. Request a course information pack from the Course Information Centre through email or call 1800 897 669.

2. Make your application direct to the University.

The University may regard an applicant as eligible for admission if:

  • The applicant has a suitable academic record. Normally applicants will have qualified at this University or at another tertiary institution for the award of a relevant pass Bachelor degree, in which the advanced level units were completed at a credit average or better, normally a GPA > 5. Where Honours is embedded in a program, an applicant must have at least a credit average.
  • The University has suitable supervisor/s available and the capacity to resource the research, and there is agreement between the applicant and nominated supervisor/s on a suitable research topic.
  • The lapse of time since an applicant qualified for the Bachelor degree is deemed appropriate.
  • The applicant has no prior record of failing to qualify for an Honours award in the same academic discipline.

The University may also prescribe other conditions for admission to specified Honours programs.

You must include with your application:

  • current transcript for all non-UWS applicants;
  • supporting statement if required;
  • all other documentation requested on the application form;
  • a 500-word work proposal and select bibliography (College of Arts only).

All documentation presented must be correctly certified by a Justice of the Peace, and include their registration number.

Applications must be submitted to the Admissions Unit by the advertised closing date.

4. Cost -  The course is normally Commonwealth supported, with fees based on a Student Contribution.
